NBN VDSL Testing - $175
Are you having connection, speed or dropout problems with your NBN Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) VDSL service in Perth? This is the version of NBN where your new NBN modem plugs directly into your existing phone socket. If yes, Aussie Cabling can help.
As independent telecommunication technicians, we can provide you with an unbiased assessment of the quality of your FTTN connection and determine whether there are any issues affecting your connection speed and / or stability. We are currently offering this VDSL cable testing service in Perth, for a fixed fee of $175. We come to your home or office and test your NBN FTTN VDSL service, to determine whether there are any issues with the old copper cable connection between you modem socket and the NBN Node causing these problems.
The first step in fixing a problem is to recognise that you have one. If you have an internal cabling issue, we can provide a quote for repairs or fix it on the spot. Most faults are normally easy to find and easy to fix. If you have an external issue, our testing report will assist you in getting your service provider to take action to fix the issue.
The reason people have problems is because (sorry, we are going to get a little technical now) the new VDSL2 modems simply send and receive data at higher speeds by using more data channels over a much higher frequency band. ADSL2+ allows for speeds of up to 24Mbps down and 1Mbps up using a frequency band of up to 1.1MHz. VDSL2 under the NBNCo implementation will allow for speeds of up to 100Mbps down and 40Mbps up, using a frequency band of up to 23MHz, The frequency band being sent over the existing copper cable in the street and into your property has therefore increased from 1.1MHz to 23MHz. Small pre-existing issues which did not previously cause any noticeable problems with the ADSL2+ signal at 1.1Mhz, can be fatal to a VDSL2 signal at 23MHz, with even very minor problems causing a significant loss in NBN internet speed and/or stability.
Also and equally important is the fact you can only get the maximum frequency band and therefore the maximum speed of 100Mbps down / 40Mbps up if your modem socket is less than 300m from the NBN Node. If it is further than 300m from the Node then your speed will be proportion to your distance from the Node and even a perfectly working cable will not give you a higher speed. Our testing service will identify your cable distance from the Node and assists us in advising you of what speed you could or should be getting.
If we identify any internal cabling problems adversely affecting the quality of your NBN FTTN service we can advise you on what needs to be done and provide a quote for the repairs. However, in most situations, we can just fix the problem for you on the spot.
